Exploring Risk & Compliance in the NFP Boardroom

Better Boards is pleased to present “Exploring Risk & Compliance in the NFP Boardroom” in partnership with Vito Giudice, Founder, at ASCENTIUM Consulting.

Over the last ten years, risk and compliance has gained significantly more attention after the failure of several NFPs. It is critical for directors on NFP boards to be very clear on how the organisation manages its risk and compliance obligations.

This session will look at how to maintain a fit for purpose risk management and compliance framework for NFPs.

In this session Vito will:

• define risk and compliance and explain the difference between these two critical concepts
• present a framework for managing risks and explain some key concepts including risk appetite
• provide some tips on the type of risk information that should be reported to the Board; and
• explain some of the key compliance obligations that your organisation might need to meet.

About the Presenter

Vito Giudice has over 20 years of governance, risk and compliance experience across a range of sectors including not-for-profit. Currently, Vito is the Founder of ASCENTIUM Consulting and provides advice to a range of not-for-profit organisations, supporting them in achieving best practice in governance, risk and compliance. Previously, Vito was the Chief Risk Officer at an Australian insurer where he worked with not-for profit organisations enhance their approach to risk management. Vito was also employed at global consulting firm Ernst & Young, where he was an Executive Director in their risk advisory department. Vito has chaired not-for-profit organisations including Experimental Media Arts and the Oesophageal Atresia Research Association and currently sits on a number of Audit, Risk & Compliance Committees. Vito successfully completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course along with a Master of Business (Risk Management) at Monash University.
