Better Boards is pleased to present "The Board's Role in Business Continuity Management" in partnership with Rinske Geerlings, Founder and Principal Consultant at Business As Usual.

Having a properly developed and tested Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is now a regulatory or contractual requirement for most organisations. However, it also offers immediate benefits in relation to better and cheaper insurance arrangements, competitive advantage when tendering for new business and improved corporate social responsibility to staff (e.g. in regards to their job security as well as being guided in the right direction should a disruptive incident occur).

In regulated sectors, it has become a key accountability of the Board to ensure that Business Continuity Management is also audited and maintained accordingly.

So how do you ensure a BCP is kept practical, user-friendly, easily activated and compliant at the same time? A plan that will ensure that time-critical processes will continue, no matter what cyber attack, flood, fire, network outage or other incident may be around the corner?

This session will look at how to establish a best practice Business Continuity Management (BCM) process and the role of the Board in governing it.

In this webinar, Rinske will:

  • explain the standards and regulations applicable in the Australian financial sector (e.g. ISO 22301, APRA CPS 232 / SPS 232)
  • share the top 11 tips for achieving a well-embedded and easily maintainable BCM process
  • explain the BCM roles of the Board and senior Executives in the organisation
  • clarify why a BCP is still required, even though your organisation may have developed certain continuity capabilities through COVID-19
  • discuss ’the good, the bad and the ugly’ of organisations who have had to respond to business disruptions… with varying levels of success
